Rolling along….
Had a pretty quiet long weekend. Three of the last four weeks have had long weekends, this one for Labour Day. And it doesn’t stop there, the Queens birthday one is on the 9th of June.
Anyway, despite not getting a great deal of work done I did manage to fix my car on Saturday morning. It broke down with a crazy twisting metal sound on Friday night while I was on my way home from uni. As it was dark I left it there and caught a $10 cab ride home.
It turned out to be the power steering belt. Luckily it had broken down about 400m from a spare parts shop and I was able to just get dropped off at the car by the cab, check what was wrong and ride my skateboard down to the shop. I ended up fixing the alternator belt at the same time. All in all pretty lucky.
That afternoon Zoe and I had a massive clean up of both the flat and my bank account. We made the mistake of going to the Good, Good, Good Guys. Once we were there we were like “Fuck it” let’s get a few things.
$1000 later we had a new TV and DVD and a fridge on the way. So, as you can imagine we spent the rest of the weekend laying around watching DVDs and playing SEGA mega drive II, well I did anyway, and it was a sweet blast from the past. All the old favourites were broken out, Mortal Kombat, Columns etc… etc…
The new fridge will replace what we call the “humming pantry” that, while being a big fridge is not very cold (minimum temp = +19 deg. C.). So we justified it by saying that now we won’t be throwing out lots of money in the form of old veggies etc…
On another note, Zoe’s mum is coming to visit next weekend, it’ll be cool to meet her and for Zoe and her to have a chance to catch up after two and a half years.
I’m in the process of organising getting some photos on the web so that you guys can check out where we live etc…
