Bball, Maggie and sleep
Saturday saw a big match up between the top-of-the-table Marlins and JCU Manta Rays. We lost by 3 runs. Not too shabby, but not really as good as we could play.
Sunday, we went over to maggie. Did a short bushwalk and went for a swim. I grovelled for some 1/2 ft body bashing waves. Zoe asked if it made up for the last 5 months without a surf, it didn’t. Although I did feel considerably more relaxed afterwards.
Lying on the beach was impossible due to the same SE wind that had created the waves so Zoe and I bailed back to the pub to listen to a Reggae band doing their first gig (what is it with us a shite bands?).
Soon enough we were on the bus home, zooming from bay to bay picking up back packers for the ferry trip home. As we passed the last bay before the ferry terminal I spotted some surf!
When I say surf I mean 1 ft onshore junk. But it was breaking about 30-40m off the beach and was rideable!! I think I’ll have to plan a mission one day when the wind is howling!
We got home cold and tired that night and ate dinner before tucking into bed.
This will probably be my only post this week as I’ve got a heap of work to do on my lit review (i.e. finish the first draft this week!) and I’ve got to tutor ‘Introductory Ecology’ on thursday.
So, seeya!
