Get rich quick?
Zoe and I had a pretty sweet weekend. We headed out to the civic theatre on Friday night to catch TaikOz (sample - turn it up loud), an Australian outfit specialising in the Japanese drumming style of Taiko. It was pretty sweet, very loud and thumping!
On saturday and sunday we dropped in at ReefHQ, in between looking at what’s on the rental market in terms of flats etc… At the moment we’re paying $280 which, without getting into the ‘executive’ market, is about the most you can pay in the whole of Townsville.
It means that we can’t save any money to go on holidays and even paying bills (like our $250 electricity bill from the last 4 months - aircon of course) gets difficult. The thing is, though, that it’s big and is in a great location, with a fat view to boot.
So, we are in a pretty good position. Our lease doesn’t run out until the end of August and in the meantime we can look around for either someone to move into our place with us and bring the rent down to say $190-$200, find another unit that is in the $150-230 range, or just get a large room in a share house for about $100/wk.
The later is particularly tempting because it cash us up on a weekly basis and would free up equity that is stored away in the fridge, microwave etc… etc…. However, it the people could be fucked and we could leave ourselves short if we want to move out but have sold all our stuff.
The getting someone in option kind-of sucks because we’ve already established our territory in our current place, plus it’s a bit on the unprivate side with the picket fencing panelling along the tops of all the interior walls of th house.
So, I guess we’ll wait and see what comes up in the next month.
