Fish et al.
My field work is proving to be quite a logistical nightmare at the moment. I’m attempting to organise an electrofishing boat for the work later this month, but before then i have to complete my confirmation seminar. Well…. You should see the number of flaming-red-tape-hoops that I have to jump through in order to achieve both.
The electrofishing is a problem because of public liability. i.e. first year volunteers are liable to fry themselves. And the seminar is one of those “take the green form across campus, get the blue stamp and a signature, then sign it yourself, don’t get the red stamp, that means you want to unenrol” etc… etc…
Luckily I’m a very patient and amiable character. Or maybe I’m an uncharacteristically amiable patient. One of the two.
In other news, my aquarium is coming along nicely with the hopefull addition in the near future of some liverock from ReefHQ - for free!!
Zoe is good, we’re eating good food, going to bed nice and early and doing more exercise - which is cool. And this weekend we’re heading down to the Whitsundays (as you do when you live in the tropics) for some R&R. This ‘R&R’ may or may not include, laying on whitehaven beach, snorkelling, yelling “Dolphin!” randomly, and a couple of cocktails in the pool. Actually, I hope it involves all of those (but maybe with the cocktails by the pool rather than ‘in’ the pool)
Here is a picture for those of you trapped in the spring winds of the higher latitudes. Suckers!
