Nice weekend, much work to do.
Zoe and I did trip down to Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays last weekend. It was sweet. Yes the sand is very white, yes there is coral everywhere and yes the tour guides were cynical-too-cool-for-school ‘dudes’, but it was excellent anyway ![]()
I shot a couple of rolls of film but, as I’m now back in developing land, I won’t get them back until thursday. When I do I’ll post some shots to make you all jealous.
As for work. Zoe is still cruising along at the civic theatre, despite the usuall blow-ups from other peoples incompetence.
My work is going crazy. I’m organising my first round of sampling to be done on the 18th. But, I luckily got together some volunteers for the work so that’s great. The electrofishing boat continues to be an issue and I may have to drop it from this round. Oh, well - presumably fish eat the same thing no matter how they’re caught.
My confirmation seminar is booked in for Monday afternoon, with a rehearsal this thursday to get it ironed out, and prep for some of the questions that people could ask.
I had a meeting with the stats consultant who said that my research design was “sound”, but “just make sure you catch plenty of fish in each habitat type to allow for comparisons to be made”.
Better get back to it. I’ll let you know how I go. In the meantime, check out the Michael Franti and Spearhead site on the left. They’ve got some downloads, tour dates and essays etc…
Also, that reminds me. I voted in the student elections today. The current president has done absolutely shocking things with the $20,000 in student association fees, they should all be pelted with tomatos or something. Their current campaign is to have a Subway on campus - heaven help us (and them).
