O-week

Zoe had her first day as a student yesterday with a meet-and-greet the department presentation and a tour of campus.

I was one of the mentors taking the young kids around the uni and leading them astray (not really, I’m too old to lead them astray).

It was sooo hot though. Everyone was dying within about 10 minutes so I zipped my group of 12 or so around the rest of the tour and took refuge in the air-con. Some groups weren’t so lucky. About an hour after we had first begun chilling indoors, the other groups arrived. Try to imagine 150 over-dressed, wide-eyed youngsters soaking in their own sweat. Some of the students had arrived from Canada two days ago. There it was minus 10, here it’s about 35 and humidity through the roof.

Zoe’s first class is next week, which is also when my tutoring starts for first year Botany. Should be super….
