Peaking
I think I may have peaked too early. I don’t think I’ve accurately judged the effort required to complete a full year of work. That is, I’ve got two weeks to go and barely enough motivation to make it.
I think the appropriate analogy is when athletes train for a big event so that they peak at just the right time. Well, maybe I’ve peaked too early. On the other hand, maybe I’ve peaked at just the right time, so that I can ease myself into holidays.
Zoe appears to be feeling much the same way, judging by the degree of complaining! She’s got two exams this week; one on Wed (Anthropology I think) and one on Thurs (Politics maybe…). So we have to think smart thoughts for her.
I wonder if anyone else has peaked too early?

Geoff and I were discussing you motivation at the Brian Wilson concert last and we agreed you should try sitting in a legal office in Sydney, filling out time sheets, to help reactivate your motivation for pottering about in tinnies on rainforest streams and spending the occasional day in the lab peering through a microscope

Talk about romanticising! The fact is that the majority of my time is spent in the office, staring at a computer screen and trying to figure out w.t.f. I’m supposed to be doing, with the occasional day cruising around in a tinnie.
Whilst these proportions are much better than those of a legal beaver, they’re not as good as an actual beaver. See this picture:
