Staying alive in ‘05
Sorry for the lack of recent updates; I’ve been out having too much fun.
Zoe and I spent a week after New Year’s Eve (which I’ll get to in a moment) down at Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains of NSW. We spent the week hobbling along alpine walks, laying around reading the paper, and fishing - a lot - or at least I did. I managed to take some nice photos, so I’ll just post them in the hope that they do the talking so I won’t have to.

I actually didn’t manage to catch a fish until our last day in the mountains due to a combination of the following factors: a) fly-fishing is one of those things that looks easy but is actually ridiculously hard; b) I’m not very good at it; and c) the conditions weren’t exactly conducive to trout fishing (5-15 deg C with wind chill taking that to 0 and raining). When I did manage to hook-up it was oh-so-sweet.

Now, as for NYE. This is, of course, Zoe’s b’day. We spent the night at Amanda’s brother’s house (don’t know what the punctuation deal is there?) and part-e-d on down. The view from the apartment was amazing and the guys had very nicely organised to have a cake (a couple of others had their b’days around that time too). Mucho props to Shane for having us and sorry to Rex (Amanda’s mum’s boyfriend, up whose nose I stuck a cocktail onion as we were leaving - well, he was passed out in the living room, fair game
).
