Well, I’ve been getting all inspired recently, reading Mr Morse’s salt water flyfishing book, and it’s starting to pay-off.
Yesterday I caught my first (very small) Mangrove Jack off the breakwater on a fly I tied myself. I was using an intermediate line on a 6wt outfit with a slow sinking leader.
We’re slowly getting there…

Excellent rainman. Well done
All this talk of SWOFFING has gotten to me too. Going to the coast this weekend and going to try our luck on the sand flats. should be interesting.
Cheers
Blake

Rainman - well done mate and welcome to the long haul. A jack is a great fish to start with - one thing I left out of the book - never mention size, its jack, when someone asks how big it was change the subject!!

Rainman congradulations on your jack. There is always something special about catching a new species and especially on your own fly. Hope this is the start of a new era in your fishing world. Again CONGRADULATIONS.
