When will it end?

The other day I asked Ves, “When will the domination end?”.

She replied, with a cheeky grin, “Not while you’re alive”.

Here’s what we got up to last night…

barra

Oh, and why is it that I post three sentences and get 27 comments, and then post 5 photo galleries and get none? - especially after all the poor dissing that was going on. Why do I bother?

  21. Phildo says:

On the domination topic - I think you might want to avoid being complacent. The domination may not end as a result of your actions. By that I mean a challenger could arrive on the scene who raises the bar - you need to be aware of your competition so that your domination is not dominated

  22. tom says:

but, you don’t have to be the best to be the most dominant!

  23. Phildo says:

but how can one be dominant if the same activity is dominated by another

  24. YLD says:

OED ‘dominant’ ….ruling, prevailing, most influential….
    from the Latin dominus…lord.

    Hence only one can dominate.
If 2 claim dominance then there must be a fight to the death to decide the dominator.

    Let the battle begin!

  25. timtim says:

let us take the tour de france as a recent example. Lance Armstrong is dominant and dominant perennially while not dominating at all times. Others take the mantle of domination to dominate a sprint or a stage or a hill climb. Lance maintains his doninance whilst not being dominant at all times. Too easy!

  26. YLD says:

But he is American, so it doesn’t count!

  27. tom says:

well, maybe we need a guest analysis of domination to settle the score. perhaps it could be entitled “Let the domination continue” and be slated for publication next monday, the 1 August and the opening of the inaugural IMD!

  28. timtim says:

And you can lay claim to Brittish heritage YLD so does your domination count?

  29. YLD says:

It is a given that the English are dominant. All the rest of you are sub-dominant. Except Tom ‘cos he is English too!

  30. timtim says:

you are still stuck on a class system there YLD, who is below the sub-dominants

  31. Phildo says:

i love some good banter - quite dominant!

  32. lock says:

Lets all take a step back for a moment and question whether in fact Tom actually line caught that Barra (in which case that is quite dominant) or if it’s just another case of undominant, electro-fishing laziness. Tomo?

PS - I do, however agree with Tom on the lack of comment on the quite dominant photo galleries of Hinchinbrook. Don’t you people recognise domination when you see it? We dominated Bowen! Comment god damn you.

  33. timtim says:

Perhaps there needs to be a base level of dominace before the photos can really be appreciated. You like the 2 shot sequence on the rope swings at Zoe Falls. Noice.

  34. ylm says:

Sorry there was no post about the glorious photos but it has been a very full on day and some of us don’t have the luxury of being able to make posts from work..
You have convinced the audience of the true domination of all of you.
What a wondeful time you must have had. The photos give a great feel of the week.
It just makes me want to go and do it myself. Now what are the odds of a slightly worn and slightly middleaged mother being able to do the walk? I don’t suppose that there is any possiblity that she should contemplate Mt Bowen but maybe if she did some training, no maybe lots of training. What do the dominant ones think?
Maybe there should be some sort of table for domination that takes account of age, sex and ethnicity. Maybe then the true doninant ones would shine through - or at least be in with a chance.

  35. tallguy says:

I think i need some help with this dominating thing.

I admit you all dominated Bowen and I missed the action due to work lameness; now can I recoup some domination when I head down to the snow for a week for some pow pow, followed by a week of water domination on the mid north coast? I know it won’t be Bowen domination but it will be domination. Can I count this? I will take photos for you all to prove the domination.

  36. YLD says:

I even think getting up and posting at 7.17 am is definitely dominating, tallguy.

  37. tom says:

TallGuy, if you have to ask if it’s dominating, it probably isn’t :)

YLM, you could def. do the coastal walk, without any real training - just getting used to your pack etc… It’s an easy 4-10km walking each day. So that’s between 2 and 5 hours walking per day. Seeing as it’s light for about 12 hours you’ve got plenty of time. If you employ your bushcraft skills and a sense of adventure then you can completely dominate the track.

As for Bowen, however. It’s a bit of a mission. The walk up to the saddle is the hardest single walking climb that any of us have ever done. It’s very steep and very sustained. Having said that, it’s not impossible - the unknown is just a little daunting when you’re going up the first time.
