Let the domination begin!

Welcome to August 2005, the inaugural International Month of Domination (IMD).

The term ‘domination’ comes from the early days of undergraduate study at UNSW. Jodi and myself recognised the subordination apparent others and, in our arrogance, decided that we were, in fact, dominant.

Since then, our aggressive attitudes have become more matured; they’ve morphed and evolved into the current no-nonsense style of getting out there and getting things done.

tomandzoe.com has provided a meeting place for those interested in doing things with more speed, more strength, more power, and more fun. Discussions held on the site have detailed the finer points of domination, but usually have just reverted to trash talking - not that there’s anything wrong with that…

And so, the Dominators were born.

As the number of people involved in our movement grows, the verb ‘dominate’ is becoming more accepted. Indeed, I’ve recently had people previously unfamiliar with even the concept of domination, now talking about dominating like it’s nobody’s business.

Others, who were obviously aware of a greater force in the universe, but unable to tap into it alone, have been thoroughly converted and have taken the gospel of domination to spread through far-away lands.

So, it is in the spirit of domination that I now declare the inaugural IMD open. May the dominating continue!

First act of domination for the month. Lach, Heather, Lance and I winning the race for Jase!!

  2. lock says:

Love the title bar - the stamp of approval is an absolute gem. Can we get a muscle-t made up like that one with the dominator stamp on the back? I’ll place an order right now in anticipation. I understand t-shirt production may not fit into the schedule of the IMD though. Maybe Timtim and I could represent the IMD at the Mont 24hr in October?

I’ll have a look for some of those plain singlets on the way home tonight. I think there’s someone at the markets who sells that sort of stuff. They are a definite goer. I was also thinking about gold “dominators” print on the front.

The stamp does look cool - but my favourite is the black sambucca in the corner, along with the Bowen Range outline ;)

  4. lock says:

Yeah, the ‘bucca is dominant. The subtlety of the Bowen outline eluded me at first, but I see the genius clearly now.

    VIVA LA IMD!

  5. jodi says:

haahha the paper is dominant (or at least published) hehe
    nice title bar
    one might say it’s ‘dominant’

  6. Lewis says:

Tom could start a new movement like GTD. GTD is dead long live IMD.

  7. ves says:

takk for sist and happy month of domination! so far i have dominated at thinking og all the dominating i shall do once the move is over this weekend. i will let you know how i get on.

  8. tom says:

    Lewis, presumably you’re talking about
    Gestational Trophoblastic Disease ;)

Ves, our pleasure - it was great to see you.

(For those of you wondering what “takk for sist” means, it’s Norwegian for “thanks for the last meeting”.)

  9. timtim says:

i was wondering, damn norwegian kiwi hybreds

  10. timtim says:

I am also hoping that the lull in serious domination will be rectified by non commenting subscribers in the post weekend rush! Claim it people, that is what dominance is all about!!

  11. timtim says:

I personally am going to be caring myself stupid rockclimbing in the Wolan valley north of Lithgow and west of the Newnes Plateau in the Blue Mountains of Sydney. I am hoping to jamb my way to glory on some old school test pieces but prior to that I need to dominate my climbing partner in Paper Scissor Rock, the only fair way to make decisions!

    Happy Dominating Punters!

  12. tom says:

I’m off for a spot of flyfishing near town with a Columbian mate, should be good chance to test out some new flies. I’ll load some pics if we see anything worthy.

  13. timtim says:

Tom I have a problem. Heckling is the only weapon I have in my infantry to inspire non commenters to acts of selfless domination. I need a man on the ground to be sure that the torch is not left in the hands of a dominant few, but in the hands of many. Can you be this man (Jodi and Zoe can also be your henchmen)??

  14. tom says:

Some like to dominate in stoic silence timtim. They can be refered to from herein as “the quiet types” or QTs.

They may also feel intimidated by your approach. Several ladies in particular have mentioned that they feel rude interuptting the free flow of domination talk that you, I and others provide. Maybe you should encourage them to share their domination in a more positive manner.

This sounds like something that A Current Affair should investigate. If only there were fat kids with ADD and massive mobile phone bills involved!

  15. tom says:

or maybe you could just continue to lead by example!

  16. ves says:

thanks for the translation, tom, i am most impressed! what website did that for you, i’d like to know. anyway, i have some good news: dave is happy to announce that he too is in the process of dominating hard this month. i could list all the things he plans to tick off his list but i have forgotten them already. representing from across the ditch - peace out!

  17. tom says:

i just googled for norwegian english dictionary, but then had to use my noodle to work it out, as the dictionary only accepts one word at a time.

  18. ves says:

i was just wondering if your dictionary was perhaps called zoe. seeing as she still wanders around saying ‘herregud!’ i thought she might have learnt some other norwegian phrases too. but let me commend you on your excellent translation, top marks!
