“We hear you Johnny”
Johnny Warren, captain of the 1974 Socceroos, died late last year. He was Les Murray’s offsider on The World Game, and a legend of Australian football. Last night he would have been very proud of the boys, as would’ve my grandfather, the late great Bill Sutherland (member of the Aussie squad until appendicitis struck just before his debut). His son, my uncle Geoff, along with my cousins Pete and Em, was lucky enough to go to the game. When I spoke to him earlier today he was “tired and emotional”. Awesome job, finally Australian football is on its way.
In other news, I spent a few days last week deep in the rainforest of the Wet Tropics. Although, it wasn’t very wet, on account of it hasn’t rained yet (despite the fact that the wet season has begun). While the frogs were a little scarce, there were birds, reptiles, fish and mammals aplenty. Here’s sixteen reasons to save tropical rainforests.

Next week brings the second of two conferences to Townsville. This time the Catchment to Reef wrap-up. I’m talking about climate change. Should be good. Better get back to it.

Go the Soccerrrrrrrrooossssssss mate from a south american point of view I have to say well done aussies Uruguay is an absolute soccer powerhouse, third best in south america ( my humble opinion )not even my country is in it (Colombia).
So well done, they play well and deserved to win, Uruguay was shocking all drama queens, with the fouls triying to slow down the aussie avalanche.
Dude Germanyyyyyyyy, I hope we get good coverage here……..
Hey tom in a different subject, I am going to Sydney in 2 weeks which breaks do you recommend, don’t have much time….
cheers

“Que SerĂ¡, SerĂ¡. What ever will be will be.
We’re going to Germany”
Try the northern beaches between Narrabeen and Bungan. Good variety of breaks for most conditions except strong E/NE winds.

There is a smoked meat deli in Montreal called ‘Schwarz’s’, I’m sure it’s named after OUR Schwarzer.
My mate Adrian said in 2002 that Australia was going to win the World Cup in Germany ‘07. I laughed at him and called him names. Like most of the nation, I’m glad I was so wrong. CARN THE ROOS!!!!!!!!!

They probably will win it in 2007, it’s 2006 that I’m worried about.

I wrote the year of the World Cup incorrectly. That’s probably punishable under the new sedition laws now. Oops, sorry Johnny (the other one).
