    2. Alligator Creek Falls (landscape scenery, wildlife sighting, passive adventure cycling, hiking, swimming) :

Access subject to seasonal rainfall variability and water quality, during the period April - June. Escorted by SWIT Guide this self-paced full day (duration up to 7.0 hours) cycling and hiking tour is suited towards experienced outdoor enthusiasts, who are self motivated and disciplined individuals acclimatised to local weather conditions. A physical challenge provides the best opportunity for understanding your limitations and managing your personal health for life.

A 17.0 km round trip excursion, requires traversing rocky and clearly defined walking trails with the mountain bike (2.5 km), and commuting a 12.0 km bike route along a power line vehicle service track which is uniformly flat, gently undulating, dipping into multiple cobble floored creek crossings. Track and trail vegetation densities are variable, with encroachment at the margins.

Your “skills, agility, and aerobic stamina will be tested.” Glance up at the densely forested mountains thinking, “I wonder how much cloud condensate contributes to vegetation zonation?” As the valley apex nears, the floor ascends, the vegetation closes in and the track gives way to a hiking trail. Continuing on without the bikes the inclining rough trail meanders through dense vegetation, over boulders and fallen trees. The smell, sights and sounds, the heat and humidity. There it is “Alligator Creek Falls.” Time to get wet, your personal natural pool awaits, complete with water fall and turbo bath. You deserve it, well done!

About face, time to return. With the bike ride and walk completed there is still more. Time for one more soothing liquid embrace, “one last chance to assemble your memories in time.”

SWIT Guide supplied provisions and logistics: 3 x 650 - 750ml of bottled water; refrigeration; Supply own food (easy to arrange on the day); Lunch box; Tissue pocket pack; 30 litre day pack (optional); bike, bike helmet,
    evacuation helicopter and hero.

But it’s not over yet. Get that pack on your back because it’s time to head up - straight up. 300m of vertical heart-beating leg-destroying climbing and you’re at the top of the mighty falls. Looking out over Mount Elliot Sharp you see Townsville and Magnetic Island to your left, while to your right lies the Burdekin river meandering over the floodplain. Keep walking upstream, into the rain forest, past the wasp nests to your lunch spot and a final swim.

    Now…

About face, time to return. With the bike ride and walk completed there is still more. Time for one more soothing liquid embrace, “one last chance to assemble your memories in time.”

Before the Paramedics arrive to give you a shiteload of Ketamine, in a bid to make you forget that you were ever there.
