Coffee, muffins and flyfishing

Losing posts is annoying. I just wrote a nice little post about coffee and muffins (the English kind) and then lost it when my laptop crashed. Instead I’m going to write about aid-packages. You know, a little parcel full of surprises? We’ ]ve been getting quite a few packages recently. We send them pretty frequently to out different friends, and they usually send stuff back. It’s especially cool doing a swap with someone not in Australia, because they usually have cool stuff you’ve never seen before.

I recently sent YLM and Dunc a little flyfishing aid package, with a reel, some line, a book about saltwater flyfishing and some flies that I’d tied. In return mum sent up some Lush products and a couple of magazines. The other day Minerva sent me a tincture for bonehealing (which I think is working well), and Zoe’s dad, Doug, sent a few CDs (Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, The Return of Fly My Pretties, and Fat Freddy’s Drop - all great choices that I’ve been listening to a lot).

Sometimes the best packages are the ones you ordered for yourself. Jac should get his new Sage this week. For those of you who aren’t into flyfishing they (Sage) are basically the shit when it comes to making high performance flyfishing rods - I have one and I love it. The problem is that learning to cast on one is like learning to drive in a Ferrari, there’s so much power there that, if you don’t really know what you’re doing (like me), then you could make a mess of things. The guys over at www.sexyloops.com know what they’re up to though: Paul Arden can do this crazy Quintruple Snake Roll, while I’m tying to get the basics worked out in the park.

Here’s a couple of weather photos: normally the view from our balcony looks something like this:

Today it’s very dark and gloomy. Beautiful and cool!
