Pair of Kings

Two weeks ago I wrote that wasn’t feeling so great; I’d just come third at the weekly poker night. Tonight I avenged my loss, managing to out-draw Dave with a pair of Kings to take the $100 pot. Hooray!

I was also setting up to print the Dominators singlets. But, I have to come clean - they’ve been sitting there for a fortnight and haven’t been touched.

Well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, I’ve put newspaper in them all (to stop the ink from running through to the back) and today I asked Zoe to buy me some masking tape. There’s none left in the whole of the ‘ville though - people gobbled it all up to tape their windows for the cyclone.

By the end of the week, I swear!

The printing of Dominators singlets was halted by a meagre cyclone?!

I would have thought it would be just like that scene in ‘Hero’ where the caligraphy students remain at their desks and continue to perfect the art of words amidst a showering storm of arrows from the rapidly approaching army.

I can just see the scene from ‘Tempest in the Tropics’…

Tom balances on one leg, the steel rod in the left sending sharp jolts through his body as lightning strikes just beyond the thin timber walls of the house. He is screen printing in a mad fervour as roof tiles are torn one-by-one from above and cast like confeity into the maelstrom. Rain pours in onto the iron sending billows of steam into the air and running the ink on the singlets, but Tom displays and unwavering focus, fuelled by an internal rage, some inexplicable higher force… domination.

lock, great deeds are fuelled by love, not by hate.

Like the lip of the big sets pounding the NSW (Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney) beaches, the end of the week is fast approching Tomo. Sarah tells me you were hung on the weekend, celebrating too early small man?
