Good things
Yesterday I discovered a new band–Bright Eyes. They’ve probably been struggling for the last 30 years, but I’d never heard of them before. Their new single, “At the Bottom of Everything”, is like the Dharma Bums of music. If you haven’t read that book, or heard Bright Eyes, do yourself a favour–duality abounds.
Today I took Zoe’s bike down the road for coffee. I got a take-away and rode down to The Strand. I sat under a palm tree and listened to the waves lapping on the shore. A skink came out of his hole, under the newly sprayed weed bed, to say hello. I thought of Rachel Carson and bad things for a second.
This afternoon, Zoe and I went to Spotlight, for some provisions. There was a girl there with a freshly broken ankle and the wrong crutches. She didn’t know about the forearm style. I told her to take a spoonful of cement and toughen up. Just kidding, I told her about the good things.
Tonight I’m going to sleep. Tomorrow I’m going to finish the invertebrate stats and then drink a few beers. This weekend I’m shooting photos at Eco Fiesta, and getting paid for it. Nice.

Hi friends,
i have never visited this webpage so much as in the last few weeks, it (and Jac’s music!) keeps me going. A shame that i can not come by your home just like that anymore! I miss you sooooo much, someone, who can understand me at least a bit!? and laughs about my humor! I will see Rodi at least this summer , cool!
This PhD is so lonley without friends to drink beers and hang out, hopefully this will change soon or i will break!

Bright Eyes is pretty tops. Libby and I were waiting for Gomez and ended up stuck in a Bright Eyes concert at Blues and Roots last year. But we didn’t end up minding. Although I think the lead singer would have to win my vote for band leader most likely to kill himself spontaneously with a kitchen utensil. You really felt like he was happy to share his problems with you.
