Guus 3:16
And I quote:
FULL TIME OF A FANTASTIC MATCH: Croatia 2 - 2 Australia Ha ha ha, Graham Poll is a complete clown. After a scramble in the box, Viduka sets about forcing the ball home for Australia… but Poll blows up for full time, Clive Thomas style, with the ball about to cross the line. He disallows the goal - not that it matters - but then he decides to book Simunic for a third time - and sends him off. He then blows up for full time AGAIN… before driving off the pitch in a car with square wheels.
Don’t get me started on Kalic. Poor Schwazer - I hope he’s yelling “I told you so!” at Guus right now. Although, it is hard to get inside the mind of a freaking genius!

How good was that???? The only problem with the Socceroos is that they cause blood pressure every time they play. The city was full of people in socceroo gear today. But wait until the Italy game on Monday night. Now that will be a serious party. Grab your seat in Norton Street now. And as for that ref…..I noticed that the German idiot that Harry was mouthing off at the other day not only screwed up the charge against Harry by fundamentally changing his story, but he also played the clown in the Ghana US game. God only knows what will ref the Italy game.

good on yas for making it through. i’ve been resorted to cheer for my neighbours in both the north and south due to lack of representation by my own nations. it was real fun sitting in an english pub cheering for sweden against england, especially when sweden equalised at the last moment. i’ll be real impressed if you beat italy, though stranger things have happened.

Germany goes quarter-final against Argentina, finally an equal match!
The atmosphere here in Germany is getting better and better, you can feel it, it is a real strange feeling, people gonna cry (me included), when Germany is the world champion! — Very special everything here, like in a soccer trance, it hypnotizes you.

Reply to YLD: Croatia’s Simunic has absolutely no sportsmanship. Referees make mistakes. But the way Simunic purposely tried to tackle Viduka and his 2 hand balls is very very poor form. Plus getting 3 yellow cards, if 2 wasn’t enough. Even though we tied, I like to think we kicked the sh*t out of Croatia!
We are playing excellent football. I’d say in the matches against Japan and Croatia we have dominated the game. just that the referees have been gobsmaked by our brilliance they have missed alot of penalties.
Thank you Guus.

That was tres disappointing, yes. Australia played a great game, and a great tournament, but couldn’t finish. Viduka was pretty much shut down by the Italian defence.
Australia had several opportunities, and ample time, to score against the 10-man Italian side - especially before Totti came on. I mean, how long do you need?
I would’ve liked to have seen Kennedy come on for Viduka when Aloisi came on for Svenerojivskiekevlovdo
June 27th, 2006 at 10:36 am
Yeah, Viduka tried and tried but the Azzuri defence was just too damn strong. I guess that’s why they haven’t lost a world cup match in regulation time for something like 20 years. And poor Lucas Neil, the Player Of The Tournament for most people, having to cop that to send the ‘roos home.
The result unfortunately demonstrates the huge weakness in the game where one subjective decision by the referee decides the match rather than the player’s skill deciding the match. Sure the Italian red card was hash too, but a finale like last night’s makes you think that they shouldn’t have bothered running out on the field.
Viva le ‘Roos!

I think we should all send a herogram to Lucas -
And Harry had gout!!!!!i n his foot - between that and his groin he is a bit of a worry, but we really missed the man.
June 27th, 2006 at 10:50 am
Those who know me well will be pleased with me -
I managed to watch the whole game without having to leave the room or turn off the tv, other than to go to the loo, in case that would bring them luck - which of course it didn’t.
John went to the loo and that didn’t help either…
I just hope that Geoff had his lucky cap on the right way.
