Blueprints for Bigness

BAM! The second International Month of Domination is on - let the dominating begin.

If you’re not familiar with the month’s theme, may I suggest that you peruse the tomandzoe.com archives? Basically the deal is that you choose some large goals and go for it. Your goals should be rather ambitious things that you can only achieve by taking a tight hold on the reins and going for it, full-on for one month.

singlet/

I hereby declare my IMD2 goals as follows:
1. Ride 500km on my fixed gear.
2. Catch at least one trout on fly in Tasmania.
3. Get two thesis chapters to ‘draft’ status.
4. Organise a postdoc.
5. See 50 new bird species.

I hope to see many photos coming my way of people going big while wearing their red Dominators singlets! What are your goals? Remember: (a) there’s no time for dilly-dallying, that’s for September; and (b) it’s all about the global resonance and sharing the domination.

    Maybe I should add:
    6. Get myself to the top of the “tom rayner” google search. ;)

In fact, if you search “tom and zoe” you now get this site first, which never used to happen.

    Beware of immitations.

    500!!!! and 50!!!!
I have decided that in the spirit of IMD2 and with the current emphasis on bikes, that I would get my bike down from the wall in the laundry and see if I can get it and myself restored sufficiently to tackle a (flattish) track somewhere.
It might not seem like a big effort, but for those who have seen my bike riding efforts in the past, they will realise what a significantly dominant effort this may prove to be.
Can we include some pictures in our reports?

  3. tom says:

That’s pretty dominant - just wear your trusty singlet and you’ll be fine. Like the malliot jaune it will give you the strength of two men!

    500!!!! and 50!!!!

lol… Of course you can include photos.

    It’s french for Yellow

    Allez garçonnet!

I love how “Blueprints for Bigness” translates to “Plans de Grandeur” in French.

To get IMD2 started, I just rode my fixie out to Ross River Dam, a return journey of some 57.598km, at an average speed of 22.7kph and a max of 39.3kph. I only have to do that another 9 times and I’ll have my 500km for the month. Eeek!

For the first time since January I have body parts which hurt more than my leg. As Iago from Disney’s Alladin would say, “I think I’m going to have a heart attack and die, from that bike-ride”.

    No, not even a titter?

Went sailing on Sun, caught a yellow fin. Hiked to Alligator
Creek falls on Sat. No injuries to report. All without my singlet.

Lockman and I hope to seal the working week series this weekend in canberra with a resounding act of domination. LM has been training in secret and I plan to come back from injury with two fully working nostrils and smash our detractors!! And clewdd we will certainly have our maillots rouge for effect… piccies?!! si señor

  8. YLD says:

    NEWSFLASH!!!!
Lockman was recently spotted by YLM doing secret bicycle training in the Kuring-Gai Chase National Park. He was thought to be sniffing fresh air in order to boost his stamina!

  9. timtim says:

In other feats of domination I aim to dominate my house renovations by the end of the month, I shall be sure to keep the malliot rouge out of the paint and plaster but will keep it on as a base layer. Come on!!

  10. tom says:

Nice one timtim - you sure are dominant.

Rode to uni today with a couple of poker buddies - they pretty much owned me after my efforts yesterday. You know, that savage aching leg syndrome - I had absolutely nothing in the tank and was longing for a freewheel, with gears, attached to a full-carbon rig, and a baby capsule for me to sit in. Oh well, we still did a respectable time of 32mins.

    IMD2 odometer is at 71.765km.

  11. YLD says:

Now you know why Floyd had a blood change.

  12. timtim says:

He had a body double with and extra testicle

  13. tom says:

Can’t he just say, “Hey, it wasn’t me - that guy who’s blood I used must have been taking something”.

  14. dunc says:

Went for a beach run yesterday in an effort to meet my get fit goal for this IMD.

Bike restoration is also well on its way with about a week until completion. Its gonna be dominant!

  15. tom says:

What would be dominant is if you put 500km on it by the end of the month…

  16. lock says:

Yes, it was me. The high altitude of Turramurra offers much in the way of increased red blood cell production over the sea-level training grounds of Surry Hills to La Perouse. While not in IMD II, the other weekend I rode from Surry Hills up to West Head and back via Akuna Bay with only one stop to refill my water bottle, I even ate my chocolate bars while rolling. The total distance was 108km. I’ll have to better this for IMDII.

Nice work on the 58km Tomo, that’s domminant with only 1 and a 1/2 legs!

  17. tom says:

No, this one-legged bike messenger is dominant, fast and reliable.

  18. Dunc says:

What a weapon! He definantly deserves a Dominators singlet, or Dominators prosthesis, but it looks like he’s doing just fine. Dominting without even knowing must be key to the spirit of IMD.

  19. tom says:

Oh, he knows - fuckin’ wannabe.

  20. timtim says:

hey dunc are you looking to dominate some employment?
URS are hiring graduates at the moment if you are interested
