I *heart* ADSL2
well, for unknown reasons our ADSL2 went down on thursday last week, and I have spent the last 4 days trying to get it back on, growing more and more desperate. I have become, prehaps, a bit too attached to instant, fast, wireless internet access.. should I maybe have spent the internet free moments of my life doing other things, doing my uni homework, helping the homeless, becoming a better person??
HELL NO!! - I spent it trying to fix the problem!.. now I’m not stupid, but my powerbook is even clevererer than me - it told me there was some problem with the configurations, even tho the set up was confirmed as correct by tech support at the IP. So my computer was connecting to the router (wirelessly and ethernet-ly) but then somehow giving it the wrong info (which was apparently the right info) on how to connect to the IP. several x 45 minute phone conversations with tech support, mutlple re-setting of network configurations, restarting and restarting and restarting and re-configuring again and again, tears, hair pulling, a trip for the router to visit RAWNET offices for re-configuration and, in the end: sitting here blind with frustration, just randomly changing settings back and forward and checking and unchecking boxes - all of a sudden - it connects!
I had NO IDEA what it was I changed that all of a sudden decided to work, I certainly didnt try anything new - just the same damned things I’d been changing back and forward since Friday, and to be honest.. I don’t really care. I’m just so happy (sob! tears of joy) to have my ADSL2 back!!!!
now I can finally look at amigurumi, baby george and snacksby again! HORRAY!

I only wish that one day I too will be a part of the ADSL2 world. Or even home internet would be good.
