week 4 nearly done
I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of week 4 of semester already.
so far I’m pretty up to date, and I put the paperwork in and dropped the extra archaeology paper today, so I’m only doing a 12 credit load, rather than the 15 I was enrolled in (yikes!).
meanwhile Tom is having fun in Tassie (shiver!), conferencing, visiting with “I know” Tim Prior, hanging out with lots of fishy dudes (he’s assured me there are no cute girls at the conference, and they have fish guts on their waders anyway). while he’s away Im doing the bachelorette thing and not eating at home, not washing any clothes (hey, jeans can be worn 7 days in a row, right?) and leaving the glasses and cereal bowls to pile up - what? were some of you under the impression I was the tidy one??? ha ha!
good thing there have been lots of events at work with leftover food etc - I had mini danishes and pain au chocolat for dinner last night, at my desk till 8.30pm.. hmm .. taking bachelorette thing too far? it is a little Bridget Jones now I write it down..
in other exciting news on Tuesday I thought I’d left my USB in a uni computer lab computer, where I have to transfer anything I want to print, cos they havent set up the wireless printing for mac yet (come on!) anyway I got all annoyed, reported it to the lost property, then, er, found it in my bag. that’s a happy story actually, but 40 mins of f-ing around emailing things to myself from one room and then not being able convert or print bloody files in the next, it seemed like a small victory really.
so, only 9 more weeks and I’ll be an anthropology graduate. Hi! 9 long hard weeks…

Zoe when you graduate will you be able to tell us why Tom complains so boisterously?.. (we love it really thomas)

haha! I think that will remain a mystery to us all, Timtim!
or.. maybe his grumbling performs a social function after all, beause when he whinges a voice in your head says “oh, shuttup, you, look: it’s not so bad!” so he’s actually turning us all into unwilling optomists!
really, in fact, I love the complaining! plus, it goes well with my ‘Nark’ tendancies - like my immense sense of satisfaction telling off people who park in disabled carparks (or even, the other day in the supermarket; parents whos kids were wheeling around the trolleys modified for wheelchair users just for fun - the bloody family where using three of them, so if any wheelie came to woolies they wouldnt have a trolley!)
err.. so I’ll assume none of you are thinking you want to be friends with us when we’re 70 now…

it’s lucky i have you guys around to keep me on the straight and narrow. i mean, you’ve just got everything worked out - you’re never mean, or rude, or grumpy, you don’t complain, or get frustrated, or leave your breakfast bowls lying around.
i haven’t ever told anyone this, but every morning when i wake up i say a little prayer of gratitude for all the perfection that surrounds me.

I was gonna say: Tom is just getting in some practice for when he is a grumpy old man! Or perhaps he’s gone in the same direction as Dave, and has become a grumpy old man before his time…..
By the way, hi Zoe! How are things? I miss you…. I am in Norway right now, having a wee holiday. I will email, promise!! For real, like, fo shizzle….

Don’t worry, at this rate I’ll be using a Zimmer frame by the time I’m 30.

yay for you Zoe! I think you should totally take Indy on… you’d look good in khaki with a whip!
Thanks for leaving a comment on our Nuggets blog… he does look cute in that Nat Geo top huh?

well, Kathleen and Maria (and do you two realise who the other is?? a hint on your connection: JADE) thanks for the congrats, but, hey - I still have to do the work this semester! it’s soooo far from over!
and then we’ll look at getting out the khakis and pith helmet.. seriously tho, I want to do honours, then it would be nice to work out somewhere exciting both tom and I can do some intersting research/projects, er being really well funded, and um, drinking out of coconuts. I’m sure a whip will come in handy for knocking them down from the palms, in which case I’lll need a machete too..
it’s funny, after 4 years of complaining about townsville, the ‘ideal’ Ive just described there is still tropical.. maybe we’re not so ‘over it’ after all, hey?

Kathleen stayed at our house earlier in the year… we go WAYYYYYY back eh hun?
Speaking of khaki… I just can’t stop thinking of Steve Irwin. I work with Discovery Networks and they are all pretty devastated. Probably mainly over their Animal Planet ratings though.
ANYWAY, sending lots of study/work vibes…kiss kiss, M
