Heros

Yesterday I was listening to Bowie and wondering, “where has all the dominance gone?”. Today I’m back on track - I’ve sent four chapters to my supervisors for their editing pleasure, collected my $1000 prize and got an email from Lock, stating that he and Timtim are:

“fuckin heros fuck yeah”

As the DOUBLE HEAD POINTS they rode their single-speed mountain bikes through the cold-cold-night to come 7th in the Scott 2006 24 hour race over the weekend - beating 25 other teams (with their 30+ gears) in the Marathon Mens Pairs category. That is dominant.

Next weekend Alex and I are entering the EcoTwitch category of the Birds Queensland 24 hr twitch. We may be riding our bikes to Paluma, hammock hanging in the jungle, going stealth, doing headpoints and generally dominating!

I think we can see in excess of 150 species, giving ourselves an excellent chance of taking out the EcoTwitch category. Assuming there aren’t teams at Mt Lewis, and that we make it to 200, we could also take down the Open category, in which teams can use private motor vehicles.

Maybe October should be IMDII Part B?

ahaha, I’m sure we’ll work something out - like starting in the vine thickets on Maggie Island, or something… :)

I like to think of it as the IMD off season now in which we can all reflect and train for the next one with a few performance goals or RADs (random acts of domination) thrown in for good measure. 180km of off road riding each! I agree with lockman!

Freakish…The race Lock and TimTim just dominated was also attended by one of the dudes at the bike shop that I JUST got my new/old mountainbike I was telling Tom about over email CONVERTED to singlespeed (the cheap-o spacer/surly singleator way) when I was in the shop I was admiring his Surly 1X1 singlespeed MTB and he told me about this race, sounds brutal.

I am going to Finland just before Christmas, what a feeling! (domination in terms of different countries within half a year) I will probably bring some moose-filet for the yummy-days, isn’t it nice white Christmas, again. I have now a flat with normal, manual curtains and hopefully friends soon again!!
    Love from Germany!
