The many moods of Shoal Bay

Shoaly is an interesting spot - with many moods. At times the water is glassy and clear, at others it’s murky and windswept. Last night you could describe it as cold and oily. It was a strange feeling: a dark, forboding sky was rushing in from the South, blowing the bay flat, but at the same time the westerly was blowing at sea level and the air was hot.

In other news, Zoe finishes her undergrad degree today. Think smart thoughts for her!

Well up here is nice and sunny, as usual. The water is not oily but it tastes like rusty pipes… maybe i shouldn’t drink from that tap in the office.

Go Zoe! We should celebrate today with a red bull (I’ve had two already and I’m on fire!).

final exam now over (celebrated with classmates and a corona) now trying to get 2 essays finished off. the library closes at 10.30pm, so I do have some time left up my sleave..

tho after that beer, some caffine might be in order, rodders…. or I’ll be snoozing in the pink booth.

at the very least, I should be able to knock one of them over, and get the other one in tomorrow afternoon (after working at work in the morning. hello $$!)

I am seriously looking forward to it being over!

Yay Zoe! Hope it all went well at the end…. Anyone who can finish a degree while working pretty much full time is a champ in my book! What’s the plan for summer? Not to mention next year?

    hi Vesli!

Toms announcement was a bit premature, I have just handed my 2nd to last assignment in, but still have the last one, hopefully finished tonight!

summer will consist of xmas in sydney, a couple of weeks on the southern beaches (which have real sand AND not-hot ocean, I can’t wait!), then back up here (me anyway) to get some dough, while we wait on post-doc news for Tom. depending on where post-doc news comes from, then we will go from there, but I’m hoping that regardless of where it is, I will be doing honours next year while Tom earns some sweet moolah in his phat job!

    sounds like a plan, eh?

what about you, what are your winter plans, y’all? Kiki is going to Finland to see/eat Rudi the reindeer and visit ‘old mate’ Santa! ok, it’s a molecular workshop, but whatever). Hope you have equally snow-filled plans, unless you guys are dreaming of a (blue? yellow?) sunny christmas, just like those ones we used to know???

    gotta get through november first…

  7. Ves says:

Hi! Sounds like you guys have an exciting year ahead, where ever you end up!

I am going to Norway for christmas with the family (only 4 weeks away, can’t wait!), stay there for about 12 days, then back to work here in London. Certainly hoping for a white one but that is far from guaranteed.

Kiki - I went to Finland (Turku) a month ago and it was bloody freezing, so make sure you wear a nice warm coat!
