Narrandera
A couple of cursory photos from a Narrandera, near Griffith, NSW. I was down there for a fish workshop over the last couple of days (no new birds though).

I don’t know what happened but I tried to leave a comment about the Murray.
Anyway I wanted to know what state the Murray River is in. It has been a very degraded ecosystem. Is it still in a bad way or are things pretty good now or are they not good but improving. What problems are there etc. If you don’t want to put something on this site I would love an email.
Cheers Lewis

The Murray River (on the border of NSW and VIC), like most systems in the Murray-Darling Basin, has areas which are in good health and areas which are degraded. The Barmah-Millewa forest received some good allocations a few years ago (which the birds and fish responded to), but there are ongoing institutional failures that cost the system habitat (e.g., http://www.npansw.org.au/web/conservation/western/redgum/sleepers.htm). Carp are also a major problem in the system.
