Pub bikes
Ever since I gave my summer pub bike to young Brit, seen here hitching a ride with Chrisso, I’ve been looking for a replacement. Brit won the bike from Chooky, a fisheries colleague, in a dramatic series of challenges (including rock-paper-scissors). Chooky, to be fair, put up a good fight, but, like a chivalrous knight, bowed to the young lady’s enthusiasm for the blue and chrome cruiser.

Enter the folder. On Monday I returned to Port Stephens for a meeting. After the meeting, I stopped by the bike shop and spied this blue BSA folding bike, complete with whitewall tyres. The guy wanted a measly $20 for it. Sold. No more walking to the pub for me. She’ll be the perfect match for Zoe’s Neopolitan.

In other news, Tom rode this beast to cremorne with me on my singlespeed (to say hi to Andy and Bob… thanks for the tea and ginger nuts) via the harbour bridge on Monday night and hit what must have been the fastest it has ever been down some of the bigger hills (in aero of course) I estimate we would have hit at least 40KPH. Was only 1 running repair (loose front brake) so based on this testing phase it passed with flying colours and is certainly a worthy pub bike, well done Tom! your folding bike is a superb addition to the Randwick flats ’stable’
