Straddie and beyond

August came and went rather quickly, I must say. Unfortunately, the quality of domination was rather poor and IMD3 had to be extended into September. I have now done around 800 push-ups (heading for TimTim’s benchmark of 3010) and hope to touch my toes too.

Towards the end of August, I headed up to Sth Stradbroke island for a conference on rivers. It was actually a pretty productive (and relaxing) trip. We headed into the hinterland on the final day and I managed to get onto a logrunner, bringing my monthly total to around 11 new birds*.

We were up in Coffs over the weekend and while I can’t claim anything other than common species, I did manage to shoot a few:
    - Sooty Oystercatcher
    - Figbird
    - Australasian Gannet

I think I need to get up earlier in the morning to start cranking up the numbers.

The other day I saw a house sparow that looked rather “superb”

How sad? I’m in some sort of birdwatcher’s coma.
