Peugeot

I bought this Peugeot for $5 at a recycling centre near Kempsey, on the NSW north coast. It was just a rusted frame, with the wrong seatpost, an ATAX stem and steel handlebars. It also had a synthetic Brooks saddle that I sold for free money*.

With the help of Lynn at Chainring Transit Authority, I pulled it apart, repacked the bearings, swapped the cottered cranks for some old Ofmegas on a square-taper bottom bracket and, last but not least, added some knobbly tyres.

The last couple of afternoons, Ben and I have been hooning around the outside track at Centennial Park, a good mix of tree roots, steep little hills and sand. It’s great fun!

* Ben and I think that when you sell something on eBay, it’s like getting “free money”, ’cause people pay into your paypal account, you leave it there and then make purchases using it later.
