Quiet domination
People must be too busy dominating, because it’s pretty quiet here at T&Z. At least I hope that’s what’s happening.
Andy and I went to track training at Tempe on Monday and for a ride yesterday in order to prepare for the IMD4 ride at the end of the month. It’s a 220km 3 Stage affair from Sydney to Port Stephens - not really that long, but we’re going to try it fixed gear and I’m sure there’ll be detours along the way.
Stage 1: Centennial Park to Palm Beach
The first stage travels 50km from Centennial Park, through Sydney’s CBD, over the Harbour and Spit Bridges and along the Northern Beaches to the Palm Beach ferry. The route mostly follows main roads and there are a few undulations (including the hills up from Spit Bridge and Mona Vale) along the way.

Stage 2: Wagstaff to Swansea Heads
After catching the ferry across the mouth of the Hawkesbury, riders face a tough ascent into Bouddi National Park, east of Gosford. The remainder of this 78km stage is relatively flat. It ends at the Swansea Gardens Tourist Park, where riders will possibly visit the local Swansea Hotel and rest-up for the night.

Stage 3: Swansea Heads to Port Stephens
On day two, riders awake to face the 90km journey from Swansea, through Newcastle to Port Stephens. Most of the steep climbing is restricted to the first 20km, over the range into Newcastle - then it’s Stockton Bridge and the long, flat run along Stockton Beach to Shoal Bay.

Timtim, it’d be perfect training for your Euro travels. Duncan, I expect you to be present. Others welcome, but please email me for the details.

Do you need an accompanying BMW motorcycle to video the action and tell you the time gap to the Peleton?
I know somebody how might have one.

Won’t the driver be experiencing some discomfort at that time?
