go now and send a message to your State MP!

( zoe coughs, gets on soapbox: ) People (in NSW)! FRANKLY, THIS MUST BE STOPPED!
Frank Sartor wants to take decision making on big development out of the hands of your local area, and into his office (while he can accept party donations from big business.. umm, hello conflict of interest anyone?), private contractors (payed by [...]

duuuuude! did you see the Australian Biggest Loser Finale last night?
if not, here is the highlight of the show:

That’s ME on TV! Joelle, Lou and I went to the Australian Biggest Loser 2008 Finale as ‘friends and family’ audience members to support Townsville gal Sheridan (good friends with Jojo, and much much nicer and funnier [...]

Fort on the rock

Lach, Andy and I went for a ride yesterday and covered about 85 km from Sydney towards Wollongong, via Royal National Park. Some of the hills drove Andy and I (on our track bikes) to panting hallucinations, sent us to our special place and had the cranks moving round like hour hands on a clock [...]

Into reality

If I was a superhero, patience wouldn’t be my super power or special skill. In fact, it’s much more likely that I’d be known as Captain When’s-it-Ready or Senior Want-it-now. So why is it that I tend to choose hobbies which require relatively strong doses of time-biding: fly-fishing, aquariums, surfing, film photography, a PhD, bike [...]

Fly-fishing near Mudgee

There’s a few little streams around Mudgee, but the one that flows through town is probably the only one that holds any trouts.

You see, the Cudgegong River is dammed upstream and during the long, hot Australian summers (i.e., 7 years of drought), cool, clear water is released from the dam to serve the areas [...]

The Germans are leaving

Our neighbours, Thilo, Astrid & Elly are leaving. They’re returning to their homeland, swapping the surf for baked delights and Bavarian beers. To celebrate their time downunder, they hosted a German-style BBQ at the Randwick flats on Saturday night. The German-food-that-you-can-get-here-anyway, in particular, was fantastic. Swiss BBQ sausages, white German sausages, Brezeln (like a big [...]

Mudgee

A weekend of rural vistas, scrumping quinces and blackberries, fly-fishing on the Cudgegong River, time trials around the house and drunken spas in Mudgee. Is there a better way to commemorate the death and resurrection of Cheeses? Here’s some photo montages from Lach.

Finale

Today was our last full day in the field. Whilst there are more adventures to be had tomorrow, I thought I’d share a final goanna-in-a-red-gum and Roger-getting-his-sunset-beery-recline on.

Timtim, you missed one hell of a trip.

Tern

Today we got amongst the fish of the Nth Reserve (and the swans, terns, sandpipers, grebes etc.). Pretty cool stuff, but damn hot and tiring. Here’s a shot of the juvenile tern/s that were skimming on the lagoon. Prize to the first to guess which type/s.

New ticks
Spotted harrier
